This is where you and your guests will spend the majority of your time — dining, chatting, laughing, and making memories together. And whilst beautiful flowers can undoubtedly transform a reception space, choosing the right wedding reception flowers is about more than simply filling tables with blooms.

Just like your ceremony flowers, your reception flowers should feel intentional, balanced, and beautifully suited to the space around them.

The size of the room, ceiling height, table layout, and existing features all play a role in determining which floral designs will work best.

A grand ballroom with soaring ceilings may benefit from taller centrepieces that draw the eye upwards and fill the space beautifully, whilst a more intimate reception room may suit lower, more refined arrangements that encourage conversation and connection.

One of my favourite examples is a focal hanging installation.

If your venue has the right architecture or an opportunity to suspend florals above your tables, a hanging installation can create an incredible wow factor. Drawing the eye upwards, it helps fill the space beautifully and creates a sense of abundance without taking up any room on the tables themselves.

Whether designed as a cloud of flowers, a foliage-rich installation, or a more contemporary floral statement, hanging installations can completely transform a reception space and become one of the most memorable design features of the day.

But hanging installations aren't the only opportunity to create impact.

When planning your wedding reception flowers, it's always worth looking at the venue's existing features and considering how flowers can work with them. Beautiful fireplaces, grand staircases, statement bars, pianos, or architectural focal points can all become wonderful opportunities for floral styling.

A staircase adorned with flowers can create a breathtaking feature and a beautiful backdrop for photographs. Likewise, a fireplace can be dressed with florals and candles to create a romantic focal point that feels completely in harmony with the room.
